Hi Peace Family! If you’ve ever had braces or work done on your teeth you know what a confidence boost it is to see the finished product. A beautiful, straight smile! I have recently had some dental work done on my front teeth and it’s made me think about our smiles and not so much how they can effect US, but how much they can effect OTHER PEOPLE. Just by smiling at someone in a random act of kindness you can change the course of their day from negative to positive. I try to smile and say hi to everyone I see or pass at work. Even those I don’t like. I think that’s what Jesus would do.
It’s said ‘the eyes are the gateway to the soul’ but I think a smile can say so much too. It really shines from within. I have a friend who says, “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.” I encourage you to physically smile today and see what a difference it makes. Especially when you don’t feel like it. I practiced this the other day. I made myself physically smile most of the day. It felt odd at times and awkward because it’s hard to do if you are feeling down about something, but by the end of the day I was in a good mood. It really did change my mood!
So I’ll leave you with a verse from the Bible to encourage you on your Smiling Project:
Matthew 5:15-16 “…nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lamp stand, and it gives light to all that are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glory your Father who is in heaven.”
If it can give glory to God, then it’s worth it. Even if you don’t have a perfect smile or are having dental work done!
